Name: Aerith Gainsborough Door: [Door Pass] Submissive Canon: Final Fantasy 7 Canon Point: After being taken to the ShinRa building. Age: 22 Appearance: [Here] History: [Wiki] Personality: (Positive) ❀ Noble Despite Aerith’s negative traits, she is incredibly good natured and noble. There is nothing more than she wants in the world other than to see others live their lives the way they want to live them. While she is envious of other people’s experiences in life, she would never wish for other people to suffer. Despite being aware of her past life, she still pushes forward despite knowing the pain it will put her through. Others’ lives are more important than her own even despite her desire for nothing more than a normal life. She is more than willing to sacrifice herself for a chance at a future for the rest of the planet. No matter how many times it takes. (Negative) ✿ Stubborn Despite Aerith’s gentle nature, she is incredibly bullheaded when things don’t go how she expects. While she is sometimes willing to come to a compromise, she is quick to dig her heels in when she’s set her mind to something. When Cloud escorts her home, she’s quick to insist that he stays at her house overnight and she lead him to Sector 7 in the morning. Naturally, he finds this to be a waste of time since he had acted as her bodyguard and led her from the Sector 5 Church back to her home in the slum town of Sector 5. Aerith refuses to let him leave her house unattended though and goes so far as to stay up to ensure he doesn’t sneak out. Cloud does, and Aerith follows him and inserts herself into the party as she’s already decided that she’s going to guide him whether he likes it or not. This trait also comes up when the Turks tell her to stay put inside her home in Sector 5 where she even goes so far as to tell them that she won’t do it because she doesn’t want to. She refuses to be held back from what she wants to do even if it’s at the cost of her own safety. ✿ Nettlesome To an overwhelming extent at times. While most people would dismiss the main character, Cloud, as simply a quiet and serious person after a conversation with him, Aerith is the sort to poke and prod until she finds the information she wants. In almost every conversation between them she has a question and if she doesn’t receive the answer she’s hoping for, she’ll continue bringing it up at various points until she gets what she wants. Most of the game is her inserting herself into Cloud and his friend’s business even when she is begged to just let it be or stay where it’s safe. While Aerith is happy to help when asked, she’s equally happy to force herself into a situation if it means she can be ‘in’ on what is going on. When Tifa is seen in a carriage going toward Wall Market, Cloud tells Aerith to go home (as per their previous deal), but Aerith stubbornly pushes forward and encourages Cloud to go after Tifa as she follows along. She inserts herself into Don Corneo’s ‘bride picking’ in order to involve herself in any way possible. If someone is a busy bee, then Aerith is more like a buzzing fly. Willing and able to insert herself into any problem… While she has good intentions, this often causes more trouble than if she had just done what she was told. ✿ Isolated In her early life, Aerith was viewed as nothing more than a science experiment due to the nature of her birth. She is the last survivor of her breed of people, the Anciencts (also called the Cetra), and because of that she has been highly desired by the mad scientist Hojo. From the time she was a newborn until she was 7, she was raised inside a science facility with minimal contact with others. She had never met any children her own age and spent a majority of her life speaking only with Dr. Hojo and her own mother, Ilfana. When she was 7, her mother managed to escape the ShinRa facility and take Aerith with her. However, Ilfana was fatally wounded during the escape and begged a woman to take Aerith and protect her. Elmyra Gainsborough then adopted Aerith and raised her as her own, however, she soon realized that Aerith had a gift and became fiercely protective of her. So while Aerith still had freedoms that she never had while in the ShinRa science department, she was still incredibly limited in her world exposure. At one point, a member of ShinRa’s elite special operations agents (the TURKS) showed up at her home in the slums to ask her to join them willingly. When she refused, she was put on permanent surveillance. These events have led to her having some awkward and difficult interactions with others. When she was young, she would often tell people the things she was ‘told by the planet’ (who was all she’d ever been able to talk to before). This would lead her to telling people their loved ones died suddenly and that they shouldn’t be sad… or she would confuse people when she claimed that the flowers were talking to her. She often would speak to the planet as well, which made others have a wary view of her. As she grew older, these things became mostly hidden, but there are many times where the ‘quirks’ are still present. However, due to her upbringing, she has become distant from others out of necessity and intentionally hides her true identity from others. In Remake, this is increased exponentially as she has experienced the plot of the game before, but is actively trying to make a different outcome. She hides this from the others in an attempt to keep them safe from the Spectres that try to force them along the path of destiny. Powers and Abilities: ❀ Magic (with Materia) In Final Fantasy 7 there are palm sized orbs (that change size when equipped) called Materia. These items allow their user to cast magic, summon beasts to aid them, boost stats and support allies. It is an item that naturally occurs in nature through concentration of ‘Mako’. Aerith is able to use any Materia equipped to perform various spells. Aerith will be bringing 2 Materia with her, but only one of them is usable. To use a materia's power, a shock triggered by the user's mind waves is required. As a result the user's mind is weakened and frequent materia use without rest taxes their stamina. Because of this, not everyone is able to use Materia. ICE MATERIA: Ice materia grants three tiers of ice-elemental spells in ranging intensities. Blizzard, Blizzara, and Blizzaga. Ice spells fire a homing projectile that can cause knockdown on impact, which can pressure some enemies, and will shatter after a short delay and can deal large amounts of stagger (particularly if the target was knocked down), and deal heavy damage. Enemies who were not knocked down can dodge before the spell detonates. The initial projectile can also be blocked by obstacles between the caster and target. When an ice spell shatters, it can launch/throw enemies. ❀ Healing Wind (Area of Effect healing ability) The skill Healing Wind is a special ability of Aerith’s where she prays to the Planet in order to grant a healing effect on those around her. This covers the entire party in canon and heals/revives them to full health, so to keep it reasonable I’ll have it only able to heal 3 people close to her (within touching distance). While it normally would be a full restorative heal, it will not fully heal badly injured Player Characters. If they have minor injuries, it can fully heal. If it’s life threatening she may be able to keep them from dying (depending on ooc conversation between players of how they want the scene to go) with minimal healing beyond saving from death. It will not have reviving capabilities. ❀ Planet Protector (Area of Effect invulnerability) The skill Planet Protector grants people immunity against physical damage for a time. This covers the entire party in canon, so to keep it reasonable I’ll have it only able to grant immunity for a maximum of 3 people (including Aerith), and the time limit will be only for a couple of minutes. ❀ Speaking to the Planet Aerith has many unique powers in her ability to commune with the planet's life force. This leads her to being able to sense the loss of life around the world. She is able to sense the lifestream (also known as spirit energy). The lifestream is an ethereal substance that streams beneath the surface of the Planet (like lava, though their planet has that also). When within the Planet, it is shown as many separate bands of green-white fluid flowing as a whole, however, when it swells to the surface it becomes a spring of Mako. A valuable substance of which the ShinRa corporation strives for. Aerith is believed, as an Ancient, to be able to follow the lifestream and guide those who believe to the Promised Land which is rich with Mako energy. She’s also a very proficient florist and gardener because of these abilities. She is not particularly resilient or strong. She can be killed and stabbed like anyone else. Inventory: ❀ A piece of [white materia] the size of a marble. It is a keepsake from her mother, and while it is materia, it is not usable. ❀ Her [staff]. ❀ A piece of [Ice materia]. Ice materia grants three tiers of ice-elemental spells as mentioned in Abilities. Samples: [TDM post] [TDM post 2] [Network] |
